    Having written an e-book on The Collapse of Conventional Medicine about all the needless and ineffective care thrust upon naïve patients, and then having watched the public clamor for more of the same in their opposition to rationed or delayed care has been very perplexing. It’s like the masses are saying “don’t cut Medicare even if it’s killing us.”

    Certainly modern medicine is impoverishing America as health care is now beyond affordability. Revelations today in The New York Times and The New England Journal of Medicine are sobering. A great portion of the financial collapse of America can be pointed towards the high cost of ineffective medicine. To make matters worse, the now common combination of unemployment and illness certainly devastates most families. Yet doctor bills keep rising.

  • Patients Can Save On Out-Of-Pocket Costs By Taking Dietary Supplements In Lieu Of Prescription Drugs

    A question arises: would American adults be better off using their out-of-pocket medical expense money to buy dietary supplements rather than drugs?

    Before the dollars-and-cents of this issue is addressed, a major misdirection by American medicine needs to be confronted. The prevailing practice of modern medicine is to consider every malady a drug deficiency. Yet we know so many health problems emanate from overloads or deficiencies of essential nutrients. Examples would be: for a nutrient deficiency — mental depression from a lack of folic acid, and for nutrient excess — high cholesterol, fatty liver and arterial disease from iron overload.

    So many drugs that are prescribed are inappropriate because the condition they are prescribed for has a nutritional origin. The drug never addresses the true cause of disease, it only masks its symptoms. Furthermore, the biological action of most prescription drugs can be duplicated with dietary supplements, with fewer side effects and lower cost.

    There is good reason to search for alternatives to prescription drugs beyond just cost. Inappropriate prescribing is a widespread problem in modern medicine, despite the many checkpoints (doctor, nurse, pharmacist) prior to patient use. Oftentimes, “drug therapy can do more harm than good.” One recent study found 69% of elderly patients were prescribed inappropriate medications. This study did not include factoring for underlying nutritional deficiencies caused by drugs themselves.

  • Cancer: More Care, More Cost, Less Cure

    Health authorities don’t foresee any cancer cures on the horizon. The World Health Organization estimates annual cancer cases will rise from 12.7 million to 21 million, and cancer deaths will jump from 7.6 million to more than 13 million, by the year 2030. That’s over 35,000 people dying of cancer every day. Over those two decades, world population is projected to increase from 7.01 billion to 9.30 billion, a rise of about 30%, while cancer cases and deaths will increase by 65—70%.

    Advancing age is the harbinger of cancer

    Despite concerns over carcinogens in the environment — cancer-causing agents such as herbicides, asbestos, and hormones — cancer is an age-related disease. Cancer was not a major health problem when life expectancy was 48 years for a newborn American child in the year 1900. But the life expectancy of Americans has risen upwards to nearly 80 years today and cancer affects nearly every extended family in America.

    1. All health insurance plans promote irresponsibility. People just run to the doctor and believe their doctor is responsible for keeping them healthy, not themselves.

  • Did 1918 Spanish Flu Deaths Result From Aspirin-Induced Scurvy (Vitamin C Deficiency)?

    The Daytona Beach News Journal cites the death of a 15-year-old New Smyrna Beach high school student, a confirmed swine-flu victim. The report says: “This student struggled with medical conditions his entire life. He was at higher risk for medical complications.” [Daytona Beach News Journal, October 8, 2009]

    A Texas 8th-grader was diagnosed with the flu on Wednesday at the doctor’s office and denied the anti-viral drug Tamiflu because she wasn’t “high risk.” Her mother was advised to continue monitoring her daughter whose condition worsened with “crackling sounds in her lungs.” She was finally hospitalized on Saturday. This otherwise healthy child succumbed to the flu by Sunday morning. [WFAA-TV 11 news Sept 30, 2009]

    The CDC also just released a report showing a striking mortality rate among pregnant women. Among 100 pregnant women hospitalized due to influenza infection, 28 died. This is an unprecedented 28% mortality rate! [Washington Post October 2, 2009] There is no way to confirm this alarming report since it is not cited in a published report that can be examined. A CDC transcript only says “28 pregnant women have died.” (Scare tactic by the CDC?) A published report does show 6 of 45 pregnant women infected with the pandemic H1N1 virus infection died during the period from April 15 to June 16, 2009. [Lancet 374; 451—57, 2009] However, no data is provided that vaccination prevented the women who survived from a fatal consequence.

    The article by CNN’s Jonathan Mann claims the American health care system is already broken and people are losing their lives because everybody doesn’t have equal access to quality care.

    Equality in health care delivery sounds appealing, But what Mann misses is what Winston Churchill said long ago: “The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.” Now no one will have access to quality care under equal access plans.
